Non-Emergency Services Print E-mail

In addition to emergency response, the Coppell Fire Department provides a number of non-emergency services to the community. Through these services, the Coppell Fire Department not only educates the citizens on fire safety and injury prevention, but also allows citizens the opportunity to view the life of a firefighter and have an appreciation of the services that we provide on a daily basis.

The department schedules public educational activities, life saving training, and other activities after 10:00 a.m. and in available time periods on selected days. There are special requirements and limitations associated with each program. This allows firefighters to perform their morning functions of preparing themselves and the fire apparatus and equipment to ensure their readiness in the event of an emergency. Due to the nature of our business, occasionally previously arranged programs are subject to last minute changes or cancellation. While we strive to meet every pre-arranged program obligation, occasionally interruptions do occur and last minute notification and rescheduling may be necessary. Some of the non-emergency services the department may provide:

  • Blood Pressure Screening--Departmental paramedics will perform free blood pressure checks.
  • Child Seat Installation Inspections--Certified trained technicians are on-duty daily to inspect the installation of child safety seats to ensure they are installed properly and will provide the maximum protection for your child(ren) in the event of a motor vehicle accident.
  • Fire Station Tours and Apparatus Demonstration--After scheduling a tour through Fire Administration, on-duty firefighters will tour guests through the station to demonstrate how a firefighter spends the 24-hour shift. The tour also includes a display of the various apparatus housed at the station. Weather and time permitting, the firefighters may demonstrate the apparatus and equipment.
  • Public Education--The Coppell Fire Department provides information and resources to the public on fire safety, injury prevention and disaster planning. For more information, click HERE.
  • Training Opportunities--The Coppell Fire Department provides training on portable fire extinguisher use and life-saving equipment and techniques as well as basic first aid. For more information, click HERE.
  • Smoke Detector Installation--Firefighters will come to your home and install smoke detectors where they are needed. This service is aimed primarily for the elderly and those citizens with physical disabilities.
  • Vials of Life--The Coppell Fire Department and the Senior Adult Services want to put a "Vials of Life" in your refrigerator. The service is free for all residents, regardless of age. People with life threatening medical conditions and drug allergies are encouraged to participate in the "Vials of Life" program. For more information, click HERE.
