The Texas Open Records Act provides that information in the possession of a governmental body is generally available to the public. Everyone has the fundamental right to know what their elected representatives and governmental bodies are doing. Some information is easily accessed through the City's archives housed under the Public Documents page. For information not available through Public Documents, please submit a formal written request for what you seek. Your request should be for documents or other information that is already in existence. Governmental bodies are not required to answer questions, perform legal research, or comply with a continuing request to supply information on a periodic basis as such information is prepared in the future. A Request for Public Information can be submitted to the city in several ways. The request must include name, address, daytime telephone number of the requestor and the documents or items requested.
